Shelter in Place
Show #401  Judged

MADE BY: Jane Haworth and Various Members of Foothill Quilters Guild
QUILTED BY:  Precision Quilting

This quilt was made during the pandemic when members were stuck in their homes. About 15 members sent blocks that they had made according to my instructions and the pattern by Pat Sloan called "Villages," using their own fabrics. I collected all the blocks that were either dropped off at my house or via the mail. I then stitched the blocks together.  This will be Foothill Guild’s 2022 Opportunity Quilt.

Blue and Purple Fusion
Show #402  Judged

MADE BY: Ronda Kucala
QUILTED BY:  Beth Handy

This was an online mystery quilt sponsored by Grid Girls Group. It was fun to get the clues each week. Not knowing how the quilt would turn out kept me going. The fabric came from my stash except for the background and backing. I was very pleased with the way the quilt turned out. Beth Handy added her magic with the machine quilting. "Fun-tastic Mystery Quilt" pattern by Deb Heatherly.

Gemstones
Show #403

MADE BY: Chere Yamasaki
QUILTED BY:  Chere Yamasaki

The pattern was fun to do in plain solid colors. Reminds me of an Amish quilt in it's simplicity. AQS pattern.

Starburst out of the Ashes
Show #404

MADE BY: Sally Fried
QUILTED BY:  Patti Taylor

In Paradise I belonged to a group of 12 ladies, the Friday Needlers. 8 of us lost everything in the Campfire in November 2018. In January 2019 we had a reunion and LeeAnn Kane and Patti Taylor put out batiks for us to choose so that we could each make the Starburst pattern from Missouri Star. When we completed our tops we sent them to Patti Taylor who quilted them on her long arm.

The construction was a bit challenging. Pattern by Christopher Florence.

Nathan's Batik Wonder
Show #406

MADE BY: Melody Peters
QUILTED BY:  Tom Reinke

I started this quilt in 2014 for my son Nathan based on his favorite color theme: blue! He was very happy to get it for Christmas 2020. I loved working with all the batiks! The design was from a group class with a small church group from Twin Cities church in 2014.

Waves of Pastels
Show #407  Judged

MADE BY: Renee Hills
QUILTED BY:  Beth Handy

While in a shop in VA, I discovered a large collection of grunge and what the shop owner called "junior grunge," so I purchased a collection. Then I found the "Low Voltage" by Robert Kaufman pattern in Colorado. A multi-state project!

Glass Beach
Show #409  Judged

MADE BY: Carol Vierra
QUILTED BY:  Brandy Rayburn

All the color-fabrics are hand dyes I’ve made or collected over the years. The colors remind me of Glass Beach at Fort Bragg where we visit every year. Design by Bill Kerr and Weeks Ringle.

Eye See
Show #410

MADE BY: Janet Ryczaj
QUILTED BY:  Janet Ryczaj

This was my first bargello quilt design. I was inspired to create this "Eye" for the 2020 Challenge which was to find an article in a magazine on page 37. The article I found was about a Professor who lost his sight, but he didn't let that stop him from continuing his work.

Third Rock
Show #411

MADE BY: Karren Lusignan
QUILTED BY:  Karren Lusignan

I was drawn to the vibrant colors of the sphere. I purchased the kit, Third Rock, on the Jinny Beyer website.

Never Again - 2020
Show #412

MADE BY: Renee Hills
QUILTED BY:  Lin Squires

I started this San Marco Square quilt when we first went into COVID-19 lockdown. It was paper-pieced and it went together well, until I got to the borders. The instructions were wrong and I finally decided that it would be borderless.

Jared's Music

MADE BY: Melody Peters

I've been collecting musical fabric motifs for years to make this quilt for my son who plays the guitar and loves music. I gave it to him for Christmas 2020.

Beachside Burning
Show #414

MADE BY: Rhonda Rosales
QUILTED BY:  Rhonda Rosales

This quilt is inspired by a photo of the Thomas Fire burning over the hill and toward the ocean. I wanted to recreate the photo but not literally. The technique I used allowed me to create the landscape using consistent shapes and a controlled improvisation based on a class by Karen Foster.

If you are using a cell phone or a tablet to view the show and “back” doesn’t take you back to the quilt you were on, enlarging the original page just a little should fix the problem.
